Genderfae, also known as genderdoe^[1] or genderthil, is a form of genderfluidity that never encompasses male or masculine genders. Genderfae individuals can be fluid between any range of feminine genders, unaligned or neutral genders (such as aporagender), or genderlessness, but they never experience masculine genders. Genderfae is sometimes considered a non-masculine subset of fluidflux.

The alternative terms genderdoe and genderthil have been coined for those who do not want to use "fae". There is currently a movement to solidify into only using genderdoe or genderthil due to fae being revered in certain cultures.

The static counterpart to genderfae is pangenderfae. The masculine counterpart to genderfae is genderfaun. The neutral counterpart is genderflor.

Variants of genderfae include:

Genderfaer, in which one can experience masculine genders but is never a binary man.
Genderselkie, where the nonbinary genders experienced are often xenic.
Greyfae (Or Grayfae): Greyfae describes someone who is genderfae, but with a feeling of gender mostly influenced by being greygender.
Genderthell, in which one is mainly fluid between non-binary identities but can cross into feminine ones.

Genderfae is not to be confused with faegender, which is a gender that changes with the seasons.

Demifae

Demifae is a gender which is partially static and partially fluid (demifluid). The fluid part of the gender is only fluid between identities which are not male, male-aligned, or masculine. The static part of the gender can be any gender of combination of genders.

History

The term was supposedly coined anonymously in 2014, on the now defunct blog "mogai-archive". The genderfae flag was designed by the user Superpopcorn101 on Deviantart on January 9, 2017^[2]. The colors don't have individual meanings, but the range purposefully doesn't include blue to indicate never including masculine genders. A pastel color scheme was used to give the flag a more "fae" feeling.^[3] Another flag was created by user strbwryfemme.

Faeflux

Faeflux, or Doeflux, is a combination of fluidflux and genderfae. It defines when one is fluidflux but never encompasses any masculine genders. The masculine equivalent is faunflux. The neutral equivalent is florflux.
