    (Redirected from Cedural attraction)
    Alternate cedural attraction flag.
    The cedural attraction flag.

Cedural attraction or docile attraction,[1] also known as dependent attraction or submissive attraction, is a form of tertiary attraction that revolves around wanting to feel protected, covered, understood, tutored, and supported by someone else. It is the reverse of tutelary attraction. With cedural attraction one feels weak and vulnerable, the possibility that someone might protect them makes one feel an attraction towards that individual. It is also based on a feeling of feeling needed or necessary.

A relationship between protective and protected individual can be labeled as guardianship, wardship, or tutelage. A individual in that relationship who takes on the protected role could be called a concomitant or guide partner. A cedural crush could be possibly be called a gush or sush.[2]

This relationship is not to be confused with dependent personality disorder (DPD), protectors in systems, or with BDSM and kink-related power play sometimes seen in sexual/romantic relationships.

The DPD version of this is dependplatonic. The system version is sysplatonic.

    History

The concept of cedural attraction was introduced on December 23, 2014 on the Spanish language version of AVEN by the user Arya[3]. It was known as atracción hacia protector and was explicitly distinguished it from the kink related power play (known as atracción de rol),[4] encompassed by atracción potencial (potential attraction).[5] The post was translated by Tumblr user Neutrois-Maverique on March 16, 2018.[6][7] Atracción hacia protector was translated as "submissive attraction".[8] The term cedural was coined by beyond-mogai-pride-flags on August 16, 2018[9] meaning pleasurable, receptive, favorable, available, and suitable. Cedurality comes from the adjective procedural and the verb cede, other words for it are ceedable, cedent, cedant, and cedable (as in proceedable).

The alternate flag was designed by Tumblr user gennerflooid on October 12, 2022.[10]
