Catgender is a xenogender in which someone feels an extremely strong connection to cats or other felines, either strongly identifying with them or simply wanting to incorporate them into their gender to better understand their identity. It was made with neurodivergent people in mind, specifically autistic individuals, as well as people who may experience delusions relating to being a cat or other feline, or people who experience species regression. However, anyone may identify as catgender.[1]

One who identifies as catgender may refer to themself as a "catboy," "catgirl," "nyan-binary," or simply catgender or another combination, depending on their gender identity.

There are multiple subtypes of catgender. This includes...

    • Species/Felinegender: when one connects to a specific species of cat. (example: tigergender.)
    • Meowgender: when one connects with older/full grown cats.
    • Mewgender: when one connects with younger cats (kittens.)
    • Kitten/kittygender: when one is catgender and species regresses and/or age regresses.

    Demicatgender

Demicatgender is a xenogender in which someone feels a partial connection to cats or other felines, either strongly identifying with them or simply wanting to incorporate them into their gender to better understand their identity. It was made with neurodivergent people in mind, specifically autistic individuals, as well as people who may experience delusions relating to being a cat or other feline, or people who experience species regression. However, anyone may identify as demicatgender.

    Demicat

Demicat, also known as demi-cat, is a gender identity in which one is partially, but not fully, catgender. One may or may not identify as another gender in addition to being partially catgender. The other part of one's gender can be any gender or combination of genders, including a lack of gender. demicat people may also identify as non-binary.

    Emo Cat Gender

Emo cat gender is a xenogender identity that mixes catgender and emocoric together, sharing masculinity and femininity while also sharing identities inbetween.

    Kittyboygender

Kittyboygender is a xenogender and neurogender, created for people who identify as half human and half cat. It is more specifically for autistic people, and for people who suffer from delusions related to it. Even though the word “boy” is in it’s title, an individual identifying as kittyboygender doesn’t actually have to identify as a boy.

    Nyaliengender

Nyaliengender, also known as meowtiangender, is a xenogender which combines both catgender and aliengender. This may or may not be a kingender.

    Flags

The term was used as early as 2014; the original catgender flag was created by DeviantArt user PN-TME on December 6, 2019.[2]

The pink, purple, and blue flag with a purple cat face silhouette on it was designed by Twitter user @hueningafton as late as June 18, 2020.

An alternative catgender flag was created by Twitter user EggHeggley on October 10, 2020 in response to the previous flag creator's exclusionary beliefs and false claims of being the original coiner of the term.[3]

An alternate catgender flag was created by wiki user Snotdrips on January 12, 2021
