Boygender is a gender for those who identify with the term "boy", but reject manhood and/or feel disconnect from the term "man". It opposes toxic masculinity and embraces innocence, soft masculinity and nonbinary masculinity (as well as femininity).
History
The term was coined by Tumblr user gender.gay on November 11th, 2019.[1]
Flags
The original boygender flag was created by Tumblr user gender.gay in the same post in which the term was coined. Its colour meanings are the following: purple blue represents feminine boys, both pale blues represent a younger version of masculinity, green represents a neutral feeling of boyhood, and yellow represents non-binary boys.
Another boygender flag was created by Twitter user TurtRose on July 27th, 2021[2]. Pink represents femininity, white represents androgyny, cyan represents masculinity, bluish green represents rejection of manhood, grass green represents softness, and dark green represents rejection of gender binaries.
