Boygender is a gender for those who identify with the term "boy," but reject manhood and/or feel disconnect from the term "man." It opposes toxic masculinity and embraces innocence, soft masculinity, non-binary masculinity, and non-binary boyhood.

    History

The term was coined by Tumblr user gender.gay on November 11th, 2019.[1]

    Flags

The original boygender flag was created by Tumblr user gender.gay in the same post in which the term was coined. The purple-blue represents feminine boys, the pale blues represent a younger version of masculinity, the green represents a more neutral feeling of the word boy (as opposed to man), and the yellow represents non-binary boys.

Another boygender flag was created by Twitter user TurtRose on July 27th, 2021.[2] Pink represents femininity, white represents androgyny, cyan represents masculinity, bluish green represents rejection of manhood, grass green represents softness, and dark green represents rejection of gender binaries.
