    Flag

    Alternative flag

The visualnovelsexual flag has an unknown creator. It is also unknown if the stripes have any specific meaning.

An alternative flag was created by Felix.guchi on June 25, 2021. The red stripes represent a love for visual novels, pink represents attraction to fictional characters, and purple represents the asexual spectrum.

    Visivosexuality vs Paraphillia

Visivosexuality is often confused with a paraphillia, however, this is by definition an incorrect case. Paraphillias are known as sexual disorders and harmful desires, often leading to the distress of the individual experiencing them and/or those around them.

Visivosexuality, however, does not usually cause harm, as it does not influence or promote any harmful or dangerous acts, and is simply a desire/attraction to one who does not exist outside of visual novels. In some cases, one who is visivosexual may feel levels of distress due to being unable to have sexual feelings for individuals in reality, however this does not mean that everyone who is visivosexual feels this way, nor does it mean visivosexuality is bad.

Visivosexuality does not include attraction to harmful fictional tropes and those with harmful attractions are not the target group for visivosexuals.

    Etymology

The origin of the term "visualnovelsexual " is unknown. It is not known for sure when this term was first spoken, some theorize that the term probably appeared in some visual novels gaming forum, but there is nothing to prove it.

"Visivosexual" uses the word "visivo" which is "visual" in Italian in masculine form.
