Vegasexual (or vegaace/vega-ace) is an asexual spectrum label exclusive to people with avoidant personality disorder (abbreviated as AvPD).

Vegasexual is related to Reciprosexual (and other recipro terms) wherein one cannot feel sexual attraction until they know that the other person(s) feels sexual attraction for them.

This is distinct from recipro labels because vega individuals need to be sure of reciprocity due to their AvPD. They also may need to be extremely and unusually confident that the other person’s feelings are real and lasting due to intense fear of rejection and feelings of inadequacy.

Vegasexual is a label for individuals with avoidant personality disorder who can’t feel sexual attraction to someone unless they’re completely sure that the person already feels sexual attraction towards them; at which point, the vega person can feel sexual attraction to the other person. Vegasexual people need to be certain of this attraction before feeling attraction themself because of the severe fear of rejection and feelings of inadequacy characteristic of people with AvPD. This label is exclusive to people who have AvPD. Self-diagnosed individuals are more than welcome to use it!

    History

Vegasexual and sister terms were coined on August 8th, 2023 by Forest of @thedaily.gay on instagram [1]

    Flag

The last three colors of the vega-asexual flag are based on Tumblr user AvPD Void Spaces's avoidant personality disorder flag [2] The purple is a reference to the Asexual flag

    Etymology

The prefix "Vega" was chosen for this group of terms due to its visibility in the night sky, as visibility is the main component in vega attraction. Additionally, it was chosen because star imagery is commonly used in relation to AvPD.
