Spintellic Attraction is a form of attraction in which one desires to tell someone about their special interests/hyperfixations. It is exclusively experienced by neurodivergent individuals whose neurotype involves having special interests and/or hyperfixations. It can accompany other forms of attraction (eg. platonic, romantic, social, etc); however, it doesn’t have to.
A spintellic crush is known as a spinsh (alternatively spelled as spinch). The suffix used to describe one's spintellic orientation is -spin, -spintel, or -spintellic, depending on the individual's preference. For example, one could use panspin if they experience spintellic attraction regardless of gender, or aspintellic if they don't experience spintellic attraction at all.
History
The term was coined by Tumblr user synpa-tee on September 15, 2021. The flags were created by the same user on the same day.[1]
Flag
The spintellic attraction flag has six stripes: three green stripes of different values and three red-orange stripes of different values. There's a black infinity symbol in the center, with a green and orange outline. It combines the autigender flag with the ADHD flag.
Etymology
The term is a combination of 'spin,' as special interests are often called 'SpIns,' and the word 'tell.'
