Shiftormon is an altersex identity in which one desires to start HRT or has already started HRT. This does not include people who are using HRT as a part of their journey to fully physically transition into one of the binary sexes (male or female). This identity is for those whose sex will be somewhere in-between/a mix of traits.
This includes the following:
- Someone whose birth sex was mullerian that is taking testosterone, but is not planning to transition fully into a transsex male.
- Someone whose birth sex was wolffian that is taking estrogen, but is not planning to transition fully into a transsex-female.
- Someone whose on the intersex spectrum that is using HRT, but is not planning to transition fully into a transsex-male or transsex-female.
Those that are shiftormon may desire or have had other sex-changing features (such as someone who is on both HRT and had top surgery,) so long as it isn't a full transition into a binary sex.
History
This term was coined by Cryptocrew (specifically Arwen) on January 21st of 2023, via a private Discord server, along with the terms anutero and bosandir.
Etymology
The name for this term is a portmanteau of "shift" and "hormone," with the E cut off the end.
