PPSH (Pseudovaginal Perineoscrotal Hypospadias) is an intersex condition in which an individual has male chromosomes (XY) however their body does not not produce enough of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes more feminine developments within the body. Because of this, the individuals likely will have vaginas, ambiguous genitals, a smaller than average penis, or a non-fully formed penis. Because of this, they are often assigned female at birth, despite their male genetics. If they have a penis, they often have a urethra opening that is on a unusual spot of the genitals (hypospadias.)
This is a rare condition and the exact rarity is unknown. Those with this condition often are fertile and can produce sperm and parent children.
History
It is unknown when this condition was discovered, however it has been discovered since 2005.
