Nullsex is a term with two definitions. The original one is defined as a term describing non-human (otherkin, fictionkin, and alike) individuals whose kintype is sexless. The second definition describes dysphoric non-binary/transsex people whose internal sense of sex is lacking, neutral or null. In this sense, nullsex people may undergo HRT and surgery to lessen their dysphoria and neutralize their body to match their body map.[1]

It may overlap with the terms teresex,[2] neuter (or neutrois), or aldernic.

    History

The term was coined by Chapter-Salty in July 2021 first on the truscum subreddit.

The flag was created and proposed on August 29th 2021 by truNB Mod M3lonKat and then voted for in a poll together with the transX (term for non-binary people with physical dysphoria or altersex, before it was co-opted to mean "transid"), and duosex flags.[3]

The term was already in use before for alterhumans whose kintype is sexless.[4] In 2023, another term called sexnull was coined with nullsex being a synonym.[5]
