Letheine (also known as Obliviscine) is a Soporine Xenogender relating to tiredness and drowsiness. This gender can feel like letting go, or succumbing to sleep. This gender can feel inherently sleepy, as though one is fighting the urge to fall prey to its clutches. It has two layers, the one where one is welcomed by a well deserved rest, and a second, hiding just underneath, which contains an underlying unease, or sense of dread, that one may never wake from this sleep. This gender can also incorporate feelings of striving to stay awake, an awareness of the time just before one falls asleep, or a feeling of being released or sinking.

    Etymology

Letheine comes from a river in Hades in Greek mythology. Lethe was the river spirits were said to drink from to forget all of their memories, hence its correlation to 'letting go.' The alternate name, Obliviscine, comes from the Latin word meaning 'to forget,' obliviscatur.
