    The Hypoandrogenism flag by isobug
    The Hypoandrogenism symbol by isobug

Hypoandrogenism or Androgen Deficiency is an intersex variation in which one has low androgenic activity within their body. It can affect both CTF and CTM individuals alike.[1][2]

In CTF individuals, hypoandrogenism can cause a loss of libido, decreased body hair growth, depression, insomnia, fatigue, vaginal vasocongestion, headaches, osteoporosis, and reduced muscle mass.[3]

In CTM individuals, hypoandrogenism can cause a loss of libido, impotence, infertility, shrinkage of the prostate, diminished masculinization, low muscle mass, insomnia, anxiety, depression, fatigue, vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes), headaches, and osteoporosis. They may also have microorchidism and/or a micropenis as well as have symptoms of aromatase excess syndrome.[4]

    Causes

Hypoandrogenism can be caused by hypogonadism (both müllerian hypogonadism and wolffian hypogonadism,) or it can be caused by impairments of the hypothalamus and/or the pituitary gland. The impairments could be caused by tumors, trauma, surgery, autoimmunity, radiation, infections, toxins, drugs, and similar things. It can also be caused by old age.[5]

    Flag and Symbol

The Hypoandrogenism flag was made by tumblr user isobug on July 16th, 2024. It was made as part of a larger series of Intersex Hyperhormonal and Hypohormonal flags. It's design parallels the Hyperandrogenism and Hypoestrogenism flags by the same user.

Purple is used as a reference to the Intersex flag by Morgan Carpenter and represents the variety of identities that those with Hypoandrogenism have. While it retains the orange stripe from the Hyperandrogenism flag, the order of the colors is flipped to show that it is a distinct condition.[6][7]

The Hypoandrogenism symbol was made by isobug and posted along with the Hypoandrogenism flag. It is made of copyright free materials and is free to be used by anyone anywhere. It's design is the same as the Hyperandrogenism symbol, but with the color changed from a deep red to a dark blue (explained as showing the "Hyper- vs. Hypo-" distinction.)[6][8]
