Genitalia or genital sex refer to the outer sex organs, especially the penis or the vulva. These organs play a crucial role in sexual reproduction or sexual relations. Unlike primary sex traits, which include internal reproductive organs (such as testes or ovaries), genitalia are the visible and external parts of the reproductive system.[1][2]
There are also intersex genital sex traits, such as genital ambiguity or agenital, and altersex genital traits, such as phalgina in salmacians or genital nullity in angenital individuals,[3][4] among other uncommon experiences such as xenogenital.
