Demiaegosexal is a term that describes those who experience a disconnect between themselves and the subject of arousal, but have the possibility of connecting once an emotional bond is forged. The connection can be romantic, platonic, or some other form of connection.
It is important to remember that a demiaegosexual person will not be sexually attracted to every person they connect to romantically, platonically or otherwise. Before this a sexual attraction, they may experience sexual fantasies, enjoy porn and other sexual content, or masturbate, but they generally feel little to no sexual attraction and typically will not desire to involve themselves in sex with another individual.
History
The earliest this term can be traced to is October 23, 2018 when Tumblr user oceanivoxjoquainx came out as demiaegosexal, in the post submited to Wordpress user Mother0fgoats, and others have combined the two originating terms themselves to come to the same meaning.
Flag
Tumblr user gray-space-ace created a flag as well as reddit user beepbop24, and tumgir user mogaiknights. Mogaiknight says their version of the flag black represents lack of sexual attraction, pink demisexual experiences, red sexual experiences, and the other pink stripe represents a differentiation between connection and sexual material. The other flags do not have available explanations to their designs.
Etymology
The prefix demi- means half or partial, and aego is derived from Latin words with the prefix "a-" meaning "without" and "ego" meaning "myself", making the whole word translate to "sexual without myself".
All together, the term literally means "partially sexual without self".
