A bambi lesbian is a lesbian who prefers cuddles, hugs, kisses, and other affectionate and even sensual non-sexual acts over sexual acts. It is a term used by some asexual lesbians and other ace-spec sapphics but not by all.
The vincian equivalent is Bambi Gay. The bi equivalent is Squirrel Bi. The pan equivalent is Fox Pan. The asexual equivalent is Rat Ace,The omni equivalent is Opossum Omni, Macaw Abrosexual. Its counterpart is Aphrodite Lesbian.
History
A post by Tumblr user nonbinarysapphic from August 25, 2017, alleged that the term originated in the 1980s.[1] The oldest and nearest label to bambi lesbian has been found in the second edition of The Alyson Almanac, a gay and lesbian reference guide for Bostonians, published in 1990.[2] The almanac defined bambi-sexuality as
Physical interaction centered more about touching, kissing, and caressing than around genital sexuality.
The current definition of bambi lesbian was created by Urban Dictionary user delishdelish on December 27, 2016.[3]
Flag
The bambi lesbian pride flag was created by Tumblr user wuvsbian on March 8, 2018.[4] The flag is similar to the lipstick lesbian flag. A simplified version of the bambi lesbian flag was created by FANDOM user Unfunny person420 on May 10, 2021.
Two alternate bambi lesbian flags were created by anonymous users and uploaded to the Pride-Flags DeviantArt account on February 24[5] and April 17, 2021.[6]
