Artemian is a a subset of lunarian that describes a non-binary individual who is feminine-aligned or is otherwise has a connection to femininity. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Someone who is fingender.
- Those who are partially fingender.
- Those who are connected to femininity in some way.
Artemian only specifies that one is feminine-aligned, one does not necessarily have to be woman-aligned (selenian) as well.
The masculine equivalent is phoebian.
History
Artemian was coined by Tumblr user Neopronouns on February 9, 2021.[1] The term was created because lunarian encompasses a wide spectrum of identities, including both female-aligned identities and feminine-aligned identities. Artemian was created as a subset of lunarian for those who want to further specify that they are feminine-aligned (and may or may not be female-aligned).
Flag
The flag was created at the same time as the term. The flag has no confirmed meaning but is based off the appearance of other galactian alignment flags. It is also pink, such that when combined with the selenian flag (blue) it would result in the lunarian flag (purple). The symbol was added by Tumblr user genderstalgia on February 21, 2021.[2] It uses a crescent moon and an arrow, positioned to look like a bow and arrow. This is one of the symbols for the Greek goddess Artemis.
