Ansthetic, also known as a-aesthetic, nonaesthetic, or anaesthetic, is a form of attraction where one does not feel aesthetic attraction. One can still be romantically or sexually attracted to someone (or even both), but their attraction does not revolve around one's appearance.
One may abbreviate the term anaesthetic to anae, nonaesthetic to nonae, and a-aesthetic to aae; one may abbreviate the ansthetic spectrum to ae-spec.
History
One of the earliest known uses of the term "aesthetic attraction" among asexuals was in 2005 on the AVEN forums. Since then, it has commonly been included in lists of subtypes of attraction. It is unknown when nonaesthetic attraction was brought up.
