Vocaromantic flag by ace-auntie on tumblr

Vocaromantic is an aro-spec label where someone only is able to be romantically attracted to someone if they find their voice attractive. They will not find someone romantically appealing if they have not heard their voice. Some may narrow it down further to singing rather than just speaking.

Many people find voices attractive, but that's a preference- this is not just the attraction to peoples' voices, but the inability to experience romantic attraction to a person until it is discovered that the person's voice is attractive.

This can be paired with any other romantic modifiers, eg. "homovocaromantic" or "bivocaromantic". Its sexual counterpart is vocasexual.

    History

Vocaromantic and its sexual counterpart were coined by Tumblr user ace-auntie on January 3, 2020. The flags were designed the same day by the same user.

    Flag

The flag uses the common symbol for vocals (three curved white lines) in white overtop a grey, blue, green, and pink flag. The grey represents greyromanticism and demiromanticism which the coiner felt fall under as well as nonbinary genders, with the blue and pink representing the gender binary as a vocaromantic person could be attracted to anyone of any gender so long as they find their voice attractive. The green represents aromanticism.
