Vaporwavic is an aesthetigender in which ones gender can be expressed or related to vaporwave, a microgenre of electronic dance music that can be defined by 1980/90's imagery, smooth jazz, and surreal/futuristic themes. It is also well known for it's visuals, which can be defined as early internet imagery, late 1990's web design, glitch art, steampunk, animecore, Roman statues, and 3D rendered objects. [1]
History
The term "Vaporwavic" was coined by tumblr account Beyond MOGAI Pride Flags on April 18, 2019.[2]
Flag
The flag was made on April 18, 2019, also by Tumblr user Beyond-MOGAI-Pride-Flags. It is described as an 11-striped horizontal flag with stripes in descending order: very light sky blue, light sky blue, sky blue, light aqua, aqua, light indigo, indigo, lavender, purple, pink-purple, pink.
On January 20, 2021, tumblr blog my-gender-hoard created an simplifed version of the vaporwavic flag.[3]
