Unreqpolyamorous is a term to describe someone who desires a polyamorous relationship but cannot act on that desire due to trauma relating to polyamory. They may feel like they are blocked from having such a relationship. Unreqpolyamorous individuals may or may not want their partner to have a polyamorous relationship. The monogamous equivalent is unreqmonoamorous.
History and flag
This term was coined by user Neil.ithink on February 28th, 2022. The top and bottom black stripes represent a sort of barrier between one's desires for polyamory and one's love life. The rest of the stripes and the infinity heart resemble the polyamory flag, but the altered colors give the feeling of "it's almost there, but not quite". The removed piece of the flag represents one's trauma chipping away at one's ability to participate in polyamorous relationships, resembling the caed- flags.
Etymology
The "unreq-" comes from "unrequited" which can mean "not rewarded".
