Spectrosexual, also known as spirisexual, is a fictosexuality defined as attraction to ghosts, poltergeists, or phantoms. One who is spectrosexual may find little to no attraction to real-life individuals, which would make it an a-spec identity.
It is usually defined as a fictosexual identity. Spectrosexual does not refer to the attraction to dead bodies, and this term is not to be used by those with necrophillic intent.
History and Flag
The spectro- prefix in relation to attraction was coined on January 14th, 2018 by Fy on Tumblr account Beyond-MOGAI-Pride-Flags, as: "attraction to ghosts, poltergeists, or phantoms."[1] The spectrosexual/spectroromantic flag was created by the same user on the same date.
The alternate spectrosexual/spectroromantic flag was created by Tumblr user afterpartyarsenal and posted as a submission via Tumblr account Beyond-MOGAI-Pride-Flags, December 28th, 2019. [2]
