    == Is spectrosexual LGBTQ+? ==
    Spectrosexuality is often confused with a paraphillia, however, this is, by ''most'' definitions, an incorrect case. [https://www.merckmanuals.com/home/mental-health-disorders/sexuality-and-sexual-disorders/overview-of-paraphilias-and-paraphilic-disorders Paraphillias] are known as sexual disorders and harmful desires, often leading to the distress of the person experiencing them and/or those around them. Whether or not it is a paraphillia is up to debate, depending on ones definition for such.

    Spectrosexuality, however, does not usually cause harm, as it does not influence or promote any harmful or dangerous acts, and is simply a desire/attraction to one who do not exist outside of fiction. In ''some'' cases, one who is spectrosexual may feel levels of distress due to being unable to have sexual feelings for people in reality, however this does not mean that everyone who is spectrosexual feels this way, nor does it mean spectrosexuality is bad.

    Although this term may be seen as odd, one must remember that ghosts/spirits within fiction tend to have human-like personalities and traits. One may find that fictional ghosts have more interesting/attractive personalities, and that they are more attention-grabbing than fictional people or real people.

    Spectrosexual, due to being a sexual minority that does not cause harm as well as being [[Asexual Spectrum|ace-spec]], would fall under the LGBTQ+ umbrella.

    It is usually defined as a fictosexual identity. Spectrosexual does not refer to the attraction to dead bodies, and this term is not to be used by those with necrophillic intent.

    History and Flag

    The spectro- prefix in relation to attraction comes from spectrophilia. The word suffixed with sexual was coined on January 14th, 2018 by Fy on Tumblr account Beyond-MOGAI-Pride-Flags, as: "attraction to ghosts, poltergeists, or phantoms".[1] The spectrosexual/spectroromantic flag was created by the same user on the same date.

    The alternate spectrosexual/spectroromantic flag was created by Tumblr user afterpartyarsenal and posted as a submission via Tumblr account Beyond-MOGAI-Pride-Flags, December 28th, 2019. [2]
