It is an umbrella for any orientations that describe which gender(s) one is or is not attracted to. It includes terms such as bi, pan, ace, lesbian, gay, etc. Affinitive orientations are most commonly associated with sexual and romantic attraction, but the term can be for any forms of attraction. For example, terms like aplatonic or omnialterous are affinitive orientations.
