Receigender is a xenogender that relates to or resonates with old-fashioned radios/receivers. One may feel like their gender is the receiver, or is being broadcasted through sound waves via the radio. One’s gender may feel like static and fade in and out of focus; as if 'changing' the frequency, or feel that it is hard to make out, similar to a faulty radio.
Receigender is not bound to masculine, feminine or neutral gender alignments, and those who identify with this gender may use it alongside other gender identities, or as a standalone.
Flags
There are no meanings given to the individual stripes at the top or the bottom, however the dull, pale saturation of the indigo (first) and pink (fifth) colours is used to symbolize how the gender is faded and feels as if it fluctuates in and out of focus, or intensity. The pale blue stripes (second and fourth) are used to signify how the gender may feel as if it is out of reach, or hard to make out, and the white stripe (third) represents those who are gender non-conforming or who identify outside of the gender binary.
An additional flag was created on 14th August 2022, using the basis of the original flag and adding an image of a brown-orange radio in the centre to signify the gender's relation to radio waves and receivers.
History
Both the label and the flag were created by an anonymous Discord user[1] on 29th May 2022, and later posted publicly by Tumblr user prof-mono[2] on 14th August 2022, alongside an additional flag.
