The pronunciation is "kwah-row-man-tic". ''Quaro'' ("kwah-row") for short.

The "''quar''-" prefix is taken from the word quartz. The "-''aro''-" part of the term is to segway the quartz part of the word with the ''aromantic'' part of the word. The reason for the inclusion of quartz has to do with the rose quartz gemstone. Rose quartz represents various relationships and loves (which are do ''not'' have to be ''romantic'').
