Polycortar is a term used to describe someone who was and/or felt like they were once polyamorous, but, due to whatever reason, they are now monogamous. This includes trauma, neurodivergence, experiences, or anything else.
One with this identity may also be erassexual or erasromantic, however this is not always the case.
Examples of this term include, but are not limited to:
- One who had an abusive polyamorous relationship, and no longer feels safe with multiple partners.
- One who, due to anxiety or other disorders, feels overwhelmed and crowded with multiple partners.
- One who, for unknown reasons, is unable to feel emotionally satisfied with multiple partners.
- One who, due to stigma, lost the emotional ability to be with multiple partners. They may also be stigsexual/stigromantic.
- One who felt polyamorous up until they had a polyamorous relationship, and realized it wasn't for them.
The version of this exclusive to trauma is polytra, while the opposite of this is monocortar.
