Moongender is a xenogender in which someone feels a strong connection to the moon, lunar activity, or the zodiac. It was made with masculine-aligning and transmasculine individuals in mind, but may be used by anyone. One experiencing moongender may feel as though their gender identity is validated by the moon.

Similar terms are nocturnalgender and lunagender.

    History

Moongender was coined August 24, 2014 by unknown via MOGAI-Archive.[1] The flags were created on September 6, 2015 and October 16, 2015 by Pride-Flags on Deviantart.[2] [3]This version of moongender is described as "a nonbinary gender connected to the moon and various aspects of it (the goddess Artemis, werewolves, etc".

Moongender may have been coined by Wikia FANDOM user Theluminary0 on January 2rd, 2021,[1] but this has not been confirmed.
