Losaesthetic also known as Stranaesthetic, formally known as Estranhoaesthetic is an aesthetic spectrum term, which describes different states of fray attraction, it is a subset of Frayaesthetic. It describes when one may lose or gain attraction in really specific scenarios when other terms don’t work, it is typically felt towards those they don’t know and the possibility of gaining any knowledge or any bond with that individual whether platonic, romantic, etc.
Someone that is Losaesthetic:
- may potentially lose the attraction if any knowledge of the individual in question is known, or if any sort of bond is gained.
- They may experience the inverse of this where they may only experience attraction if there is a bond, but after a while it fades away but then comes back when the bond is greater.
- They have no knowledge of the individual but the aesthetic attraction just fades away without any explanation.
- The individual may only experience the attraction if they know nothing about the individual and may feel that their feelings towards the individual is redundant if they have any knowledge or bond with that individual.
Someone who is this term experiences all or most of these examples, the term relies on really specific circumstances where terms like Valis, Fray and Demi, etc, don’t work for them.
Flag
The flag was created by Arlo on April 5th 2024, he created the flag prior to the creation of the term and it is does not have any meaning. The flag is a gradient of gray on the top and bottom of the flag, in the middle is a white stripe and the white stripe is in the middle of a pink and blue stripe, the pink being on top whilst the blue is on the bottom.
History
The term was coined by Arlo on April 5th 2024, originally on Discord before moving it onto Tumblr[1]The term was originally called Estranhoaesthetic and was named after the Portuguese word for Strange ‘Estranho’[2], the name was changed to Losaesthetic on June 22nd 2024 after Arlo decided the change was needed and put a poll on Discord which resulted in Losaesthetic being the winning name, Stranaesthetic being in second. Arlo posted about the change on Tumblr[3]
The prefix of the term is from the English word ‘Loss’ which could be defined as “the partial or complete deterioration or absence of a physical capability or function”[4]
