The term "hueco" literally translates as "empty, shallow, hollow, superficial" [https://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=hueco <nowiki>[3]</nowiki>] among other terms that indicate a lack of substance. This comes from the homophobic stereotype that queer men are usually feminine, and the misogynistic belief that femininity indicates no intelligence or dept within a person. |

Hueco, also spelled Huequereque, is a reclaimed slur used against men-loving men, transfeminine and AMAB gender non-conforming people in Guatemala [1], Chile [2] and possibly other Hispanic countries. The feminine equivalent, Hueca, may also be used against sapphic women and transmasculine people. However, it is generally used to insult women as a whole.
