Freenaming is a tacit of acknowledging that names are free of gender, along with the act of disavowing the idea that ones name reflects ones gender, in defiance of binary gender stereotypes. It is based on the similar concept of freedressing.
History
The term and flag appear to have been created on January 27, 2021 on the Tumblr blog beyond-mogai-pride-flags with help from Tumblr users gender-resource and haingender.[1] The flag has no known meaning.
