The masculine equivalent is mascgender.
History
The term was coined by Tumblr user queerfucker sometime in July 2014. It was defined as a gender describing someone who identifies with "femininity, femme, and girlhood, but also not a girl; nonbinary with a core and foundation of enduring femme." Femmegender was coined again by Tumblr user mogai-on-the-internet on August 15, 2019, with a different definition. It was coined a third time by Tumblr user thepokedexisgay on November 25, 2020, as a gender influenced by one's femme identity. And it was possibly coined a fourth time by Wiki user Fireprincipal on or before January 29, 2021.

The femgender flag was created by Tumblr user queernoctis on August 3, 2014. Purple was used because it seen as a feminine color without the same "girl" connotations that pink has. The fade out of shades from dark to light is meant to represent the variations in gender while still associating with the core/foundation of femme. The mint/green is meant to represent the sort of ‘absence’ of a binary gender/being a girl, as well as give a bit of variety of color for those that don't like the plain purple and white design.
An alternate flag was created by Tumblr user nova-pride-flags on or before July 30, 2016.
A redesign was created by Tumblr user thepokedexisgay on November 25, 2020.
The fourth flag was possibly created by Wiki user Fireprincipal on or before January 29, 2021.
The pink-and-white flag was created by Twitter user Strwbryfemme on or before April 12, 2021, as a gender that relates to the lesbian identity of Femme. This user's flags should be used with caution, as fawn has a history of exclusionism against m-spec lesbians.
