The original coining of epigender was meant to be an alternative synonym to non-binary and a counterpart to exorgender, created by Tumblr user arco-pluris on August 21, 2018.[1]
The term was recoined by Tumblr user old-gender-plaza (now gender-plaza) on November 22, 2020.[2]
