Dunamgender (also called auctogender and auctoic) is a xenogender that feels powerful and empowering. This gender is associated with the feeling of taking a literal deep breath in the face of injustice and/or discrimination and letting the gender empower oneself to continue with one's life.
History
Dunamgender was coined on the LGBTA Wiki's Discord server by Emberid on June 11th, 2021.[1]
Etymology
This term comes from the Ancient Greek words δύναμις (dunamis) meaning 'power',[2] and ενδυναμώνω (endunamoó) meaning 'to empower'.[3] The alternative prefix aucto- comes from the Latin word auctoritas meaning 'authority'.[4]
Flag
The dunamgender flag was created by FANDOM user Contie, on June 12th 2021.[5] The darkest red represents the struggles that one may face due to systemic prejudice, public ignorance and other societal issues; the deep red represents one's daily struggles and pressures; the red represents the strength that one's identity and community gives them; the orange represents one's personal courage and endurance; the dark blue-purple represents one's individuality, values and friendships; the blue represents one's fight for freedom, stability and justice within their own life and/or within society; and the green represents hope, progress, and the continuation of life despite hardship.[6]
An alternative dunamgender flag was created by the same user, 22nd June 2021;[7] the colours have similar meanings to that of the original design.[8]
