Cisgenital or protogenital is a cissex label in which one feels comfortable with having the genitalia one was born with, regardless of gender. It is a term for someone who is not transgenital.[1][2] Cisgenital individuals may or may not also have or desire other changes to their sex characteristics, that don't involve their genitals.
Cisgenital is not the same as cisgender. Transgender individuals who don’t plan to have sex reassignment surgery would be considered cisgenital. Additionally, not all cisgender people are cisgenital.
The difference between cissex and cisgenital is that one who is cisgenital may or may not want to change other sex traits, such as breasts, while one who is cissex does not desire to change any sex traits. This means that all who are cissex are also cisgenital, but those who are cisgenital are not always cissex.
