Ambident is an identity that covers peopleindividuals who view their orientation, gender, and/or related experiences as one singular experience or identity rather than individually, or view them as so inextricably tied to each other that they are better represented under one identifier.
It can cover a wide amount of peopleindividuals and experiences, including but not limited to
* Intersex transgender peopleindividuals (who feel the two things are linked)
* Lesbians who use butch/femme as gender identities.
* PeopleIndividuals who identify as an orientationgender.
* PeopleIndividuals who cannot find labels for their gender/sexuality/etc. but are aware they are connected.
It can be used alongside or as a substitute for queer, as an identity.
Anyone can use the term so long as they are not perisex cishet, and they feel as they cannot succinctly describe their experience as individual, unrelated identities, or simply desire a single word to cover related experiences as a unified one.
The term was created because, while queer can be used for any identity, it does not specify the link between orientation and gender, and it can be used by peoplethose who do not experience this link. There is a specific need to express an identity that is outside the bounds of, or is more complicated than, existing identities.

The term and flag were created by Tumblr user Ambident on August 26, 2018. The dark pink stripes represents attraction to women, women adjacent peopleindividuals, and demigirls. The dark pink stripes represents women, women adjacent peopleindividuals, and demigirls. The dark purple stripe represents attraction to non-binary peopleindividuals. The light purple stripe represents non-binary genders. The orange stripe represents multiplicity in gender, sexuality, expression, or experience. The yellow stripe represents nonconformity in gender, sexuality, expression, or experience. The dark blue stripe represents attraction to men, men adjacent peopleindividuals, and demiboys. The light blue stripe represents men, men adjacent peopleindividuals, and demiboys. The dark green stripe represents peoplefolks without gender or partially without gender. The light green stripe represents peoplefolks without attraction or partially without attraction. The white stripes represent both the fluidity between one or more of these things, and/or the unity between them.
The flag was not designed as representation of all the experiences of a single ambident personindividual, but rather any experience an ambident personindividual might have, so that every ambident personindividual is represented by at least one color.
