History
Acriromantic was coined by Tumblr user pastelmemer sometime on or before November 14th 2018.[1]

The neuroromantic flag was created by Tumblr user genderplaylist, 15th November 2018.[2]
An alternate acriromantic and neuroacriromantic flags were created by lgbtqa-pride-icons, September 5th 2019. The outer stripes represent the type of attraction and the inner gray stripes representing the unnatural feeling of the attraction.[3]
Etymology
The prefix "acri-" is Latin for "bitter", "sharp", "sour", or "stinging."[4]
